Growing up, my parents always had tomato, pepper, cucumber, and squash plants. A couple of times we tried corn and watermelon. Those didn't work out. This year, I convinced Alex to try a couple tomato plants. Living in an apartment, it's kind of strange, but it's so far so good!
We did have a 'duh' moment though. Our tomato plants got a little out of control and we finally got cages for them. It took quite a bit of effort to wrangle them into the cages, but I did it!

So the lesson learned was to cage the plants before you can't.
