As a last hurrah before Alex has his surgery this Wednesday, we went camping with our very favorite friends, Vince and Kristin. Apparently, this weekend was the biggest camping weekend due to the Cheyenne Rodeo happening about thirty miles from where we decided to camp. We ended up staying at a KOA because all the campsites organized by the US Parks and Wildlife were all reserved.
We went up on Friday afternoon and had a fantastic dinner of brats and s'mores cooked over the fire.
Alex spent a chunk of time shooting his slingshot.
Emmett spent most of the time cowering in the tent. He was so excited when we got back. He slept for the rest of the day.
Saturday we went into Fort Collins. We walked around the main street, had lunch at an awesome placed called Stuft, and then headed to the New Belgium Brewery. They're pet friendly so the dogs were able to come inside with us.
Martini did fine. Emmett ended up napping under the table.
It ended up being a terrific day, but a long one and some people slept on the way back to the campsite.
On a random last minute purchase, Alex and I bought a cheap kettle to put over the fire to heat up some water. It turned out to be pretty handy to have because Alex bought a bag of the freeze dried stew to try.
If you must know, it tasted exactly like freeze dried stew would taste like. Stick with putting a can of it over the fire.
After dinner we all put on our pajamas and walked to go see the sunset. It was pretty fantastic!
We were so scuzzy from not showering! Definitely not a Christmas card picture!
We are so thankful that God gave us a great state to enjoy, beautiful sunsets, fantastic friends, and whomever came up with s'mores. We can't wait to do it again!
